FAQ
Quiddity Collective is a bimonthly illustration zine composed of emerging artists based internationally (concentrated in NYC and the Bay Area). Each volume focuses on visually depicting a single word (or the essence of that word) in a monochrome palette. The zine is risograph printed and handmade in NY.
Quiddity means: the inherent essence of a word.
Over time, one of QC's goals is to build a library of visual depictions of quiddities.
Online or venmo/instagram-ordered zines are $12. In person, direct-from-QC sales are $10 (tips appreciated). We do wholesale or sell via consignment with a SRP of $12-15.
You can venmo the correct amount ($12/zine) to @lili-price-b, or zelle (415)706-3943 WITH YOUR ADDRESS FOR SHIPPING IN THE MEMO. Make sure to indicate via instagram or in your payment comment which volume/s you are purchasing, and ensure you type your correct and full address for shipping. Feel free to dm @qquiddityccollective with questions prior or after payment.
In-person store availability at WORM at 56 Bogart Street, Brooklyn NY (@worm.nyc)
We occasionally sell IRL in NYC parks or vendor fairs; follow our instagram @qquiddityccollective for that up-to-date info.
QC was founded and is run by Lili Price (@designedbylili); many original members are artists she befriended or discovered while attending Parsons School of Design's illustration program, or folks she knew from San Francisco's art scene (her hometown). Others were found through SVA alumni, SOI awards, instagram, or friend-of-QC-members; in other words, members join through word of mouth or instagram outreach/invitation.
Artists are chosen not for having a particular style, but for just having an interesting one: simplistic or detailed, comic or abstract, digital or traditional... does not matter as long as their interpretation of themes is cool. We do not seek a particular style, however artists are often invited to join the collective based on their work style fitting the particular theme of the upcoming issue.
Email Lili [liliquiddity@gmail.com] with your portfolio or work samples, or dm her [@designedbylili OR @qquiddityccollective] from you art instagram account to be considered! We try to include a few new members with each volume :)
Note: there is no payment for participation. Profit from zine sales go towards funding the ongoing QC project. Artists do each receive a free zine for their participation.
